Friendship Force Sapporo, Japan club was passing through Sydney and had asked if any members would be interested in a mini reunion. Our club having been hosted by the Sapporo club was keen to be involved. On the 24th May 2012, six of our members spent the day with fourteen members from the Sapporo club. They enjoyed many sights including a walk across Sydney Harbour Bridge from Milsons Point in the north to the Rocks located near Circular Quay. A walk across the Bridge provided stunning views of the harbour, where the ferries, cruisers, yachts and boats (big and small) decorate the sea with a tapestry of colour and design as they carve through the water whisking up waves and foam to the delight of passengers on-board. From the Bridge, the Sydney Opera House roof stands out like a beacon displaying its enormous white sails and is a magnificent sight to behold. Views of the central business district of Sydney, give the visitor an idea of the depth and breadth of this area.
Once across the Bridge, our Sapporo friends continued their tour and enjoyed a leisurely walk through the Rocks, which is one of Sydney's historical areas from the days of colonisation. To the delight of our Japanese friends, one of our members highlighted many historical areas giving talks about the history of the convict and early settlement days. Meandering toward Circular Quay, they took a thirty minute trip on a Harbour Ferry, which passed across The Heads northward to Manly where everyone enjoyed a sumptuous lunch by the ocean. It was a wonderful day and a pleasure to host old friends.
