17 Ambassadors from Shelby, Cleveland County, North Carolina arrived in Kempsey on 9th September 2010 and friendships were quickly formed with this happy, friendly easy going group of Americans.
A full week of activities was organised with trips to the Butterfly House, Pet Porpoise Pool, Billabong Wildlife Park, Koala Hospital, Wigay Aboriginal Culture Park, Smoky Cape Lighthouse, Trial Bay Gaol and even a local Council Meeting where the Mayor presented the group with an Akubra hat and a lovely book on Australia.
Barbecues, Pot luck dinners, sausage sizzles all contributed to a few extra kilos to take home with them and they got up close and personal with lots of Aussie wildlife and enjoyed some of the spectactular scenery that the beautiful Macleay Valley and surrounds has to offer.
A great week was had by all and there were lots of sad farewells as they departed, but also lots of wonderful memories to treasure."
