Sydney is the capital of the state of NSW and is situated approximately halfway between the nearby cities of Newcastle and Wollongong. As FFSS is located in the southern suburbs of Sydney, we share claim with FF Sydney to many of the beautiful sights such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House which are recognised worldwide. Around the harbour there are many areas set aside as National Parks. The Royal National Park, in the outer southern suburbs of the city, is one of the world’s oldest National Parks, second only to Yellowstone Park in USA.
The South coast of NSW also boasts many miles of magnificent coastline with beautiful beaches and the spectacular Seacliff Bridge which winds around the cliff faces. A visit to the Blue Mountains with their dramatic rock formations can be an enjoyable day trip as an optional extra on your journey.
The climate can be quite warm and humid during summer. Spring and Autumn are usually pleasantly mild and while winter is cooler, it certainly is not as cold as many areas of the Northern hemisphere. The best time to visit is therefore usually from March to November (avoiding Easter).
Our nearest airport is Sydney Airport which has domestic and international terminals and is approximately 7 kilometres from Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD). Train, bus and taxi services are available from the Airport to the CBD. Land transport is also available to other areas of Australia by coach and train services which are accessed within the CBD.
