Lamphum - Thailand 2009
The Inbound Journey (alias Exchange) from Lamphum, Thailand, has been completed with seventeen Ambassadors arriving in Brisbane on Thursday 16 April 2009.
Thursday 16th April -
Ambassadors will be met at 6:40am at the Brisbane International Airport by their Hosts and proceed to Hosts' Homes.
It has been suggested that the Ambassadors be taken to Brisbane Forest Park early in the morning to see the Platypus, then move across the road to Sid and Lorraine Parry's home where there will be a welcoming BBQ Lunch. After lunch they will be taken on a bus tour of the Botanical Gardens, after which the Hosts may like to drive their guests up to view Mt. Coot-tha.
The cost of entry to Brisbane Forest Park will be paid for the Ambassadors and possibly one or two guiding Hosts. The cost of the BBQ at Parry's home will be paid for by the Brisbane Club—there will be a small charge for non-hosts, to be notified at the next meeting. No charge for the tour of the Botanical Gardens.
Friday 17 April -
A drive to Mary Cairncross Park is envisaged, with a picnic lunch provided by the Hosts; later in the day it will be up to the Hosts to decide whether they would like to take their Ambassadors through Montville, or maybe a drive to one of the nearby beaches.
Saturday 18 April -
A free day with the Hosts. Maybe a trip to the City a ride on the City Cat, Newstead House etc.
Sunday 19 April -
A free day with the Hosts. Some local shopping, or visit the Museum and Art Gallery, or the Science Centre, or call in on family members to show the Thai Guests a sneak preview of family life in Brisbane.
Monday 20th April
Off to Morgans Seafood at Scarborough for a Fish and Chip Lunch at Jamieson Park on the water's edge, where there are big pavilions and seating, and hopefully lots of sunshine and fresh air!
Hosts will bring some salads to go with the seafood, and hopefully all the Hosts will contribute some cakes, biscuits or "goodies" to finish off a delightful meal. Non-hosts who wish to join in this jolly day will be expected to pay for their own fish and chips, and naturally bring along that extra "goody" as well.
Tuesday 21st April
An exhilarating trip on the "Kookaburra Queen" up and down the Brisbane River to view the City from another angle, while being entertained and fed.
On Tuesday night there will be a Farewell Dinner starting at 6 p.m. at Nancy Stoddart's home. This will be in the form of Finger Food and drinks.
Wednesday 22nd April
This a leisure day for both ambassadors and hosts and a time to put their feet up and relax after a hectic week of sightseeing and Aussie hospitality.
Thursday 23rd April
Departure of our Lamphum guests to F.F. Gold Coast. Ambassadors will travel to the Gold Coast by train and will be met by Friendship Force Gold Coast
