During November 2010, 18 Ambassadors from the Northern Illinois Club visited the Blue Mountains after spending several weeks in New Zealand. During the week they had the opportunity to mix with members of our club at various activities and social events such as picnics at scenic lookouts, spit roast birthday party, barbeque by the river, and dinners at the homes of various hosts.
Special activities and attractions the Ambassadors and hosts attended included:
Visit to Scenic World, Three Sisters and Echo Point at Katoomba; Tour of the Orient Cave at Jenolan Caves; Mt Tomah Gardens; Local lookouts; various craft and antique shops in our villages and gardens.
They also enjoyed Aboriginal cultural experiences at Muru Mittigar, Girrawaa Creative Art Centre at Bathurst Correctional Centre, and interpretation of cave markings by an Aboriginal guide.
The week culminated with a farewell dinner at Secret Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and Restaurant at Lithgow, where ambassadors enjoyed a talk and tour by renowned environmentalist Trevor Evans, before enjoying a wonderful meal and festivities.
A great week, new experiences, fantastic sights, and most important - new friends.
